Boutique holistic psychiatry
exclusively for women
As a psychiatrist based in Bozeman, I offer an integrative approach to mental health, blending psychotherapeutic modalities, bespoke psychiatric guidance,
and wellness practices.
I take a comprehensive, multidimensional approach to women’s mental health, deeply honoring the intricate and dynamic interconnectedness between the body, mind, and spirit. Mental health challenges often arise from subtle imbalances across these interconnected dimensions, and together, we embark on a journey to uncover their root causes. By addressing both the physiological and psychological elements of your well-being, I integrate refined clinical methodologies, including classical psychiatric practices, psychodynamic psychotherapy, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), and curated lifestyle interventions, including mindfulness and stress resilience strategies. This transformative framework facilitates lasting change, guiding you toward genuine healing and restored harmony, empowering you to transcend the limitations of symptom management and embrace a life of enduring vitality and wellness.
Meet Dr. Alexis Anderson
I have been in private practice since 2008. I completed a residency in psychiatry at Yale University and a fellowship in child and adolescent psychiatry at the University of California, San Francisco. I obtained my medical degree from the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine and my Bachelor of Science degree from Emory University.
I am licensed to practice medicine in Montana, California, New York, and Colorado. Sessions are virtual, providing anonymity and flexibility.
I reside in Bozeman, Montana, where I enjoy spending time hiking and skiing in the mountains and canoeing and kayaking on the rivers. I most enjoy spending time with my two daughters, who tirelessly help me grow. My adorable, poorly trained Australian Labradoodle, Coco, keeps me humble.
UNIQUE ASPECTS OF MY PRACTICE
Women-centered
Whether you're navigating hormonal shifts from pregnancy, postpartum or perimenopause, managing anxiety, depression, or ADHD, struggling with disordered eating, healing from trauma, or balancing life transitions, my practice is dedicated to supporting the multifaceted mental, emotional, and physical needs of women. Together, we’ll create a personalized treatment plan that honors your unique life path, empowering you to reclaim your sense of self, restore balance and embrace your full potential.
Boutique Offerings
By working with a select number of women, I offer flexible scheduling, extended appointment durations, and a collaborative, intimate therapeutic relationship where communication is open and ongoing-both during and between sessions. Whether through same-day appointments, tailored care strategies, or direct access to me outside of scheduled sessions, my focus is on providing exceptional, individualized care that fosters lasting mental wellness.
Therapy approaches
I combine psychodynamic psychotherapy and cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT). Psychodynamic psychotherapy helps women understand how past experiences and unconscious influences shape their emotions, relationships, and self-worth, addressing issues like perfectionism, shame, and life transitions. CBT provides practical tools to challenge negative thought patterns, manage anxiety, depression, ADHD, and stress, and develop healthier coping strategies.
Frequently Asked Questions
-
Our first appointment is an opportunity to begin building a trusting, collaborative relationship. Together, we will explore your reasons for seeking treatment, any current symptoms you’re experiencing, and your personal goals for healing. You’ll receive a comprehensive questionnaire before the session, which we will review together. This process allows us to gain a rich, nuanced understanding of your unique experiences, challenges, values and aspirations, forming a foundation for transformative healing.
In this co-created journey, we’ll take a deep dive into various aspects of your life—your mental and physical health history, relationships, spirituality, career, nutrition, lifestyle habits, sleep patterns, and coping strategies. We’ll also discuss any current stressors and explore the factors influencing your well-being.
Additionally, lab testing may be recommended to help identify any underlying medical issues, hormonal imbalances, neuroendocrine disruptions, metabolic health disturbances, nutrient deficiencies, or inflammation, offering valuable insights and guiding us toward a holistic treatment plan tailored just for you.

I have extensive training in both psychodynamic psychotherapy and cognitive behavioral therapy.
Psychodynamic therapy focuses on uncovering unconscious thoughts, feelings, and past experiences that influence current behavior and emotions. By exploring early relationships and unresolved conflicts, it helps women gain insight into recurring patterns and emotional challenges. The goal is to promote self-awareness, emotional growth, and lasting change.
Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) is a structured, goal-oriented approach that focuses on the dynamic interplay between thoughts, feelings, behaviors, and body sensations, recognizing that these elements are interconnected and influence each other. CBT helps women identify and challenge negative thought patterns and behaviors. By learning to reframe distorted thinking, improve emotion regulation and distress tolerance and develop healthier coping strategies, you will experience reduced emotional distress and an improvement in problem-solving.

No, as a holistic, integrative psychiatrist, I focus on treating the whole person. I believe the most effective care comes from combining therapy, medication management (if necessary), and lifestyle coaching with a single clinician who understands your entire well-being.
